Velvet ropes would never do to guard this alcove of unadulterated bling--instead, the glamour-thirsty who've trekked down to Little Italy are blockaded by gold chains. The "subtle" design philosophy continues inside, where chandeliers dangle from a barrel-vaulted ceiling and cast the all-gold bar area (and its throne-like chairs) in a gold-dust light. But the most highly prized part is also the most unusual--hundreds of gilded human skulls decorating the diminutive lounge in back. At $17 a pop, however, cocktails are almost as precious.
