 | With reggae-hip-hop hotspot 2i's long gone from the premises, Yuval Eder has arrived with this "miniclub"?a bi-level space for rock, eighties hip-hop and house with a modest dance floor, a cabaret license, a step-up VIP perch, and a $100,000 sound system. The Meat Packing District gets a little more intimate with Dirty Disco, a new ?mini club? opening this Thursday. Lined with mirrors and nude photographs reminiscent of something you?d find in French Vogue during the 1960s, Dirty Disco?s d?cor evokes an erotic-urban style. The lower level glitters with glam and half a dozen hanging disco balls, and is no doubt inviting to all the dirty dancing that will take place. If the interior is any indication, Dirty Disco revitalizes moods of the '70s disco scene - stylized, hedonistic, and often with sadomasochistic and fetishistic subtexts- without the disco music of course. |
